Annual Graham Cracker Houses

Another wonderful thing that I love about Christmas is the traditions. One of the many traditions that I have done for years is making graham cracker houses. It all began with the Wood family when I was like 5 years old or so and we continue to make houses with them every year. The Wood family expanded, my family expanded but we continue to make houses. Then in high school my sister and I decided to have one with our friends. What's one more night? Just another excuse to have a party right? So we started to making houses twice in December. Then we decided that we weren't making enough graham cracker houses so we added yet another night. One with our family friend's kids.

Three in December amidst the goodie plate making, shopping, and overall Christmas madness and we have three fun parties of making houses. In the Wood family we have veered off from doing typical graham cracker houses cause it just got boring. We have made (to name a few) the Taj Mahal, a windmill, airplane hanger, nativity scene, the Washington Memorial and even a toilet. My friends have also started being creative as well.

It was lots of fun this year to see what people come up with. Sheila, Nikki, Jackie & Brittney made a girl's camp theme. Sheila made the lake, Nikki made the outhouse, Jackie the sleeping area, and Britt the mess hall.

Sadly though we didn't have our third night of graham cracker houses. Baby Joshua arrived early and our run of doing graham cracker houses with the Wood family for 20+ years ended. They did have it with their family but it just wasn't the same. Next year we will pick up where we left off.

Looks like so much fun, I'm sad I couldn't be a part of it this year!
